Goal Setting
Goals must be realistic, achievable and measurable, and provide a stretch in learning and attitude to each individual.
18 October 2010:: A big well done for achieving our Term 3 goals. Term 4 goals have been negotiated. 19 November 2010:: Most students are well on the way to successfully completing their Term 4 goals. Most students has set goals around moving their reading from fiction to non-fiction and from simple stories to chapter books with few if any pictures. This goal has been well and truly achieved by all. Reading ability across the class has improved immensely.
Learning Expectation It is expected that your child is Reading during the week at home. If your child needs a book they can get this from me during the week.
It is also expected that your child is learning their timetables. The sequence for this is 2x, 5x and 10x. They then need to learn their 4,3,6,7,8,and 9 times tables. See Maths games ideas for interesting ways to introduce the time stables to your child. www.tutpup.com is a popular way of introducing repetition to learn basic maths facts and times tables.
Your child should know where they are in their learning. They know their reading age, spelling age, areas where they need to learn in Maths, and what they need to work with in their written language.The main thing to to remember is not where they are at but how far they have come.

Goals Goals will be set each term and will be targeted around areas identified by students, parents and myself. These goals need to be Relevant to the students needs, reflect a level of Responsibility for one's own learning, demonstrate the ability to carry out a Reflection of one's learning and include the concept of Reporting to others the learning that has occurred and the next step learning.
Success Criteria
What are they?
As a class we identify what makes a good piece of work. Responsibility . We then level our work depending on the skills used Reflection .From these skills the kids can see what they need to work on. In doing so they become more responsible for their learning and have a better understanding of what they do. This term we have completed success criteria for graphing, handwriting,recount writing and swimming.
Learning Intentions These are key skills we are focusing on. The kids are told what they are doing and why we are doing things.Learning becomes more Relevant and kids can reflect on progress made.
The learning Intentions below are some of the areas the class are working towards.
Learning Intentions We are learning about completing tasks.
We are learning to manage our own learning.
We are learning how to do number doubling.
We are learning how to multiply decimal numbers.
We are learning how to turn our division problems into multiplication problems.
We are learning about interesting adjectives and strong verbs.
We are learning how to note take and then make these into sentences.
We are learning about comic strips and how they work.
We will make our own animation or claymation.
We are learning to read and understand what we are reading.
We are learning to use a dictionary and a thesaurus.
